In this challenging year, it was extremely important to the owners of Undley Pumpkin Patch & Maize Maze that the 2020 event, which ran throughout October, not only celebrated key workers but also raised funds for the local NHS.
As a result, we are delighted to announce that, in total, £4385.50 has been donated by Undley Pumpkin Patch & Maize Maze to My WiSH Charity. The charity specifically supports both patients and NHS staff at the West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community Hospital.
The My WiSH Charity mission is simple and important: “Our goal is to make sure that your friends, family and neighbours enjoy the best treatment and the best possible service when they visit West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community Hospital… We are not here to replace the NHS but to help further enhance the care and support given to patients, their families and also to the wonderful staff who care for you so well.”
The owners of Undley Farm, Anthony and Sally Pooley who host and run the Undley Pumpkin Patch & Maize Maze event each year, felt My WiSH Charity was an extremely worthy recipient for the donation, particularly during such a testing year for NHS staff and patients.
Anthony and Sally explain: “Even back in March when we were planning the 2020 event and deciding the theme for the maize maze, we knew we wanted to celebrate NHS staff and key workers. So we came up with a maze maize design in tribute to these incredible people, who have done so much for their communities and the NHS. Nevertheless, we also wholeheartedly wanted to find ways for our event to raise funds for the local NHS too. When we came across My WiSH Charity and the amazing work the team there does, we knew it was the perfect choice for our event’s donation. We are so pleased that the funds raised will support local patients, their families, as well as the staff at the West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community Hospital.”
Fundraising initiatives at the 2020 Undley Pumpkin Patch & Maize Maze included the £1000 cash prize draw, the winnings for which directly formed part of the donation. There was also a tractor raffle with four lucky individuals (from Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire) winning either a ride on tractor, toy excavator or toy tractor.
Anthony and Sally want to convey their heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited Undley Pumpkin Patch & Maize Maze this year, and to all those who took part in fundraising initiatives at the event.
